This is something that I think gets passed over in most classes, especially those that are not English content area classes, but they are necessary to be a smart reader. Therefore, it should be an important part of how we instruct our students to read and engage in literature-heavy assignments, regardless of the content area. This book was one I had never read before, but my mom used to read me books like this when I was a child. I thought it was inspiring for children (and adults) to be brave and press on through the trials that life may bring. The book provided a simple, yet lasting message to children to be brave.
